The club advises against driving to the Emirates Stadium and parking around the stadium is very difficult in what is a predominantly residential area. All roads in the immediate vicinity require residential parking permits.
Even for night games, traffic wardens are in evident and are not reluctant to hand out parking tickets to those with proper accreditation or badly parked.
Fortunately, the club is very well-served by public transport.

Transport Links to the Emirates Stadium
Getting to the Emirates Stadium by Car
Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium is accessible by car but if driving in London, you must be aware of the Congestion Charge and its’ various zones. Transport for London detailed website advises on where the zoning begins and ends, as well as the costs involved.
It is strongly advised not to drive by car to the Emirate’s stadium.
Far more convenient are the public transport routes. You can find detailed route plans for railway, underground, and buses on the “Transport for London” website.
Tickets for each leg of the journey can also be purchased online at the various rail travel companies mentioned.
Getting to the Emirates Stadium by the London Underground
- Arsenal Tube Station is a two-minute walk from the ground. Exiting the station, turn right and the stadium greets you like an old friend as you turn a sharp-left bend. Entrance to the stadium us via the Ken Friar Bridge which brings you to the north side of the stadium, where the statue of legendary Arsenal captain Tony Adams stands, arms outstretched in celebration.
- Holloway Road Station is the station prior to Arsenal and serves the southern half of the Emirates Stadium. Crossing the busy A1 Holloway Road, the station is a five-minute walk, visible almost the entire length of your journey.
King’s Cross Piebury Corner – A Pre-Match Warm Up
- “The Piebury corner”: to the right of the station exit is the world-famous Piebury Corner where an outstanding range of home-made pies and drinks are available, accompanied by a range of disc jockeys. A word of warning; Piebury Corner is very popular and unless you are earlier, it’s likely to be standing room only. Note: this station is exit-only when matches are being played at the Emirates and it is closed after the match.
- Finsbury Park Station is further away from the Emirates Stadium – approximately 15 minutes on foot – and a useful station for those coming to Arsenal from the north. It provides a relatively swift post-match exit to the Victoria Line. The station is less busy than both Arsenal and Holloway Road.
- Highbury & Islington Station serves the southern half of the stadium and is a similar distance from the Emirates as Finsbury Park.

Getting to the Emirates Stadium by Taxi
Using a Taxi can be pricey and not necessarily more effective. You may try to reduce costs by using Uber service. If there’s a traffic congestion around the stadium, it is advised to as the taxi driver to stop and cover a short distance by foot – it is a better way than being stuck on a traffic jam.

How Far Is The Emirates Stadium From London’s Airports?
London City Airport
At 10 miles, London City Airport is the nearest to the Emirates but getting between the two is not straightforward. From the airport, take the Docklands Light Railway to Bank. Switch to the Underground at Bank and travel on the Central Line in the direction of White City.
Alight at Holborn, switching to the Piccadilly Line, taking northbound trains in the direction of Arnos Grove. Alight at Holloway Road for a five-minute walk to the Emirates Stadium or at Arsenal for a two-minute walk to the stadium.
London Heathrow Airport
Heathrow Airport is around 23 miles from Arsenal but getting to the Emirates Stadium could not be easier. Hop onto a northbound Piccadilly Line train heading for Arnos Grove and in approximately 76 minutes, you arrive at Arsenal underground station.
London Stansted Airport
London Stansted is 34 miles north of the Emirates Stadium but is just an hour away by public transport.
Take Greater Anglia train service to London, alighting at Tottenham Hale. From there, switch to the Tottenham Hale London Underground station. Take the southbound Victoria Line to Finsbury Park and walk ten minutes to the Emirates Stadium.
Alternatively, switch to southbound Piccadilly Line, alighting at Arsenal underground station.
London Luton Airport
From Luton Airport Parkway Rail station, take the southbound Thameslink service and alight at London St Pancras terminus. From there, walk approximately ten minutes to Kings Cross London Underground station.
Take northbound Piccadilly Line train, destination Arnos Grove. Alight at either Holloway Road or Arsenal for a five-minute or two-minute walk to the Emirates Stadium.
London Gatwick Airport
Walk to Gatwick Airport rail station and take Southern Railways service to London Victoria.
It’s a short walk to the Victoria London Underground station. Take a northbound Victoria Line train to Finsbury Park and the Emirates Stadium is a ten-minute walk away.
Alternatively, switch to Piccadilly Line at Finsbury Park and take a southbound train to Arsenal.
Leaving The Emirates Stadium After A Match
All buses run and most Underground stations are open at the end of each match.
Arsenal Underground station is by far the busiest of all with the queue stretching back to the stadium itself post-final whistle. It is a controlled queue with stewards and police patrolling, and generally good natured.
The further you walk from the ground, the smaller you will find the queues at Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington.
Holloway Road underground station is closed after matches.
Hotels Near the Emirates Stadium
Such are the excellent transport links to the Emirates Stadium; it is not necessary to stay local to the arena.
However, with Islington’s excellent nightlife, there are several good hotels locally, ranging from the cheap and cheerful to the more expensive.
For the budget traveler, “Prime Backpackers” is close to both Islington and the Emirates Stadium.
